What is a stainless EN 1092-1 flange?

The EN 1092-1 flange is the reference standard in Europe for piping flanges, expressed in nominal pressure (PN) rather than American class. Twelve types are standardised, from type 01 (slip-on) to type 12 (lap joint), each corresponding to a different attachment method to the tube or equipment.

How to choose it?

PN is chosen based on the line's maximum service pressure, with the project's usual margin. Type depends on the connection method: slip-on for a standard economical assembly, weld neck for better stress handling at high pressure.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between PN 16 and PN 40?
PN indicates the allowable nominal pressure at reference temperature — PN 40 allows a higher pressure than PN 16, at the cost of a thicker, heavier flange.
Does type 01 correspond to the slip-on flange?
Yes, EN 1092-1 type 01 is the fillet-welded slip-on flange, the most common type for an economical assembly.
Can I get a tongue-and-groove face?
Yes, on request — RF and FF remain the default faces of the standard offer.
Are these flanges compatible with ASME B16.5 equipment?
Not directly — bolt circle dimensions differ between EN 1092-1 and ASME B16.5, to check before any mixed assembly.
