Precision redrawn stainless tube

Precision redrawn tube goes through one or more additional cold-drawing passes after extrusion, to tighten dimensional tolerance and improve surface finish. Used in hydraulics, instrumentation and OEM applications where mechanical clearance must stay constant.

What is precision redrawn stainless tube?

Redrawn tube is a seamless tube that has gone through one or more additional cold-drawing passes after initial extrusion, which tightens its dimensional tolerance (classes D1 to D4 and T1 to T4 per ISO 1127) and improves surface finish, at a higher production cost than standard extruded tube.

How to choose it?

This product is warranted when standard dimensional tolerance isn't enough: a hydraulic fitting needing constant clearance, instrumentation, or an OEM mechanical part where outer diameter must stay within a tight range along the full length. For standard process piping, a regular extruded tube is enough and costs less.

Available grades

Standard austenitic grades (304L, 316L) cover hydraulics and instrumentation. Heat-resistant grades (310/310S, 253 MA) apply to motorsport exhaust tubes exposed to high temperature.

Partner stock or mill?

Redrawn tube follows the same stock/mill logic as the rest of the cluster, with the tighter tolerance mainly affecting production lead time at volume.

From partner stock: 48 hours for urgent needs, 5 working days as standard.

We go through the mill when volume and lead time make sense — typically container-load quantities, sometimes less, with a lead time of a few months including transport. That arbitration is ours to make: when buying at source works out cheaper for you, we say so.

Frequently asked questions

What dimensional tolerance do you offer?
ISO 1127 classes D1 to D4 (diameter) and T1 to T4 (thickness) are the common reference — send the class required by your specification in the quote request.
Does redrawing change the tube grade?
No, the grade stays the same — redrawing is a cold mechanical operation, not a metallurgical treatment that would change composition.
Is this product suited to motorsport exhaust?
Yes, it is a common use: tight tolerance for bending and assembly, in standard austenitic or heat-resistant grades depending on the target exhaust temperature.
What is the lead time for a redrawn tube order?
As with the rest of the cluster: 5 working days standard from partner stock, longer if tolerance or diameter fall outside the everyday range — to confirm via quote request.
