What is polished sanitary stainless tube?

Polished sanitary tube is a stainless tube whose internal surface finish is controlled to limit bacterial adhesion and ease clean-in-place, under the sanitary requirements of the food and pharmaceutical sectors. Its dimensional designation follows one of three series depending on region and the type of equipment to connect to.

How to choose it?

Choice of dimensional series depends on the existing equipment fleet: DIN 11850 Reihe 2 in Germanic Europe, SMS 3008 in Nordic countries, ISO 2037 as the international standard. Surface finish (2B, sanitary polish, fine polish, electropolished) depends on the process cleanability requirement — specify it in your request.

Available grades

316L dominates this segment for its corrosion resistance in chlorinated cleaning solutions. 304L remains available on request for less demanding uses.

Partner stock or mill?

Polished sanitary tube is on request, not a standard partner-stock offer — finish and dimensional series are defined case by case before production.

We go through the mill when volume and lead time make sense — typically container-load quantities, sometimes less, with a lead time of a few months including transport. That arbitration is ours to make: when buying at source works out cheaper for you, we say so.

Frequently asked questions

Which dimensional series should I choose?
Whichever matches your existing fittings and machines: DIN 11850 Reihe 2 (Germanic Europe), SMS 3008 (Nordic countries) or ISO 2037 (international standard). If unsure, send a reference of an existing fitting.
Why is this product on request rather than partner stock?
Because three variables intersect — dimensional series, wall thickness and surface finish — for a smaller demand volume than standard process tube. Lead time is confirmed case by case rather than advertising an availability that wouldn't be reliable.
What Ra do you offer in 'fine sanitary polish'?
Ra ≤ 0.5 µm in fine sanitary polish, versus ≤ 0.8 µm in standard sanitary polish and ≤ 0.4 µm electropolished — see the surface finish table in the dimensions tool.
Do you provide a sanitary compliance certificate?
No specific certificate (FDA, EHEDG…) beyond the 3.1 material certificate, supplied as standard with the shipment.
